2022 Industry Party Wrap

July 22, 2022

What. A. Night!

Picture this – the middle of Melbourne winter, dark, 12 degrees, 90% chance of rain. Doesn’t sound like the beginning of something fun, right? Stick with me…

400 of our event industry colleagues descended on The Timber Yard on Tuesday 12th July for an Industry Party. We wanted to celebrate our industry and throw a party for the all the amazing people who are hard at work every day producing events for other people.

A lot of thought went into taking everyone on a journey through our space with no corner left unexplored. Starting with entering via our back door, the driveway, that is normally reserved for deliveries and parking for the team during the week. Smoked whiskey cocktails and Ruby Rose Martini’s on arrival – wish that was waiting for me every other day. The sights and smells of the open hibachi grill drew people up the driveway to enter through the back of The Warehouse for the show to begin.

With a welcome to country and sharing of The Timber Yard story, The Warehouse was revealed with a jaw dropping timecode laser show before throwing to Melbourne icon, John Course to turn the party up a notch. No matter your mood there was something for everyone from VR to desserts, lounging with a drink or being the star of the show in the 360° photo booth. It was looking pretty heated over in the arcade zone where people could go head-to-head in Daytona or air hockey and act like they were kids again.

The night didn’t end there.

The Yard was revealed with a bang. A curtain of sparklers raining from the roof and Ash James on the Sax who drew everyone back out into the chill with a buzz of excitement. The weather certainly didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits and there were 2m flame throwing towers that you could feel the blazing heat from – the shots when leaving The Warehouse helped to keep everyone warm too.

Conversation and drinks were flowing with the party vibes high, even on a school night. We kicked on until 2 hours after the event finished – people literally did not want to leave which was the biggest complement to all the hard work that went into the event.

We are so grateful to all of our amazing partners for helping bring this event to life. We simply could not do what we do without them, and their generosity and support made the event a huge success.

I cannot wait to see what the next 12 months has in store for us here at The Timber Yard. Now, time to get planning for the next industry party – not sure how we’re going to top it!
